If you’re in Guilin, getting to Yangzhou is only a boat ride away. This is the preferred method of travel to Yangzhou because you get to experience and be immersed in the jettisoned Lime stone mountains of Guilin. This scenery is actually found on all ¥20 bills.
Yangshuo is an exciting town of 60,000 people. The famous West Street is the center of shopping during the day, and at night, the street transforms itself into the town’s entertainment center.
One of the best parts of any trip is stepping outside of your comfort zone and making your way off of the beaten path. In this town, you can rent mopeds and drive out into the country for a nice break away from the constant energy at the center of the town. You can grab food at any of the small hole-in-the-wall places to treat yourself to an extremely authentic and local meal.
Overall, the city is centered upon its shopping center and nightlife. There is also a large community of ex-pats who live here, and the town is a popular travel spot for backpackers. This means that you will undoubtedly make a friend or two if you end up at the bars during the night!

- Absolutely head out of the city and go to the country. Renting the scooters was one of my favorite memories of China. You can also hire a guide if you don't feel comfortable doing this alone.
- Do not feel bashful about getting up close and personal with people on West Street. Use a lower mm lens such as a 24mm to really get involved with your subjects while shooting
